While Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney have enjoyed remarkable success at Wrexham, their journey with Colombian club La Equidad has presented a stark contrast.
Under their stewardship, Wrexham has achieved a historic triple-promotion along with significant commercial success, partly fueled by their Disney+ documentary, ‘Welcome to Wrexham.’ This year, they have also become part of an investment group that took over La Equidad.
The investment group is led by real estate mogul Al Tylis and includes notable figures such as actress Eva Longoria.
Other prominent names in the club’s new management structure include MLB pitcher Justin Verlander, model Kate Upton, and former NBA star Shawn Marion.
In contrast to the swift achievements at Wrexham, La Equidad’s season has been less than stellar, culminating in a last-place finish in the Colombian Primera A, with only three wins out of 20 matches.
Who is La Equidad?
La Equidad is located in Bogotá, Colombia’s capital, and plays at the Estadio Metropolitano de Techo, which has a capacity of 10,000. Unfortunately, the fans have had little to celebrate this season.

Their final match of the season was a significant 4-0 victory against Deportivo Pereira, but it also marked the end of their current brand identity, with a complete rebranding set to be unveiled in January 2026, as announced by President Nicolás Maya.
In a farewell message on social media, the club invited fans to “experience together the closing of a chapter that has defined Colombian football.”
Founded in 1982, the club is poised for a significant transformation.
Will they receive the documentary treatment like Wrexham? There are hints that Nexaca, another club involved with Reynolds and McElhenney in Mexico, was featured in a behind-the-scenes series on Hulu. Could La Equidad follow suit?
