Real Madrid defender Éder Militão suffered a right leg injury while representing Brazil, the club announced on Wednesday.
Medical examinations revealed that Militão damaged his abductor muscle during Brazil’s friendly match against Tunisia on Tuesday.
While the club has not provided a timeline for his recovery, sources indicate to ESPN that he is unlikely to participate in Sunday’s match against Elche.
Militão was substituted in the second half of Brazil’s 1-1 draw.
The club stated that “further updates will follow” regarding Militão’s recovery.
As Real Madrid prepares to face Elche in LaLiga on Sunday, they hold a three-point lead over Barcelona after 12 games.
In addition to Militão, injuries are affecting the squad, with Dean Huijsen, Eduardo Camavinga, and Kylian Mbappé also sidelined.
