Chelsea receive…

Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has indicated that Cole Palmer may return to the pitch sooner than anticipated, although he still expects the playmaker to miss the Premier League match against Arsenal on Sunday.

Palmer was approaching full fitness following a groin injury sustained in September but recently suffered a fractured toe in an unusual home accident.

The 23-year-old was ruled out of Tuesday’s Champions League match against Barcelona and the game against Arsenal; however, Maresca was optimistic about Palmer’s recovery, noting that the club had created a special boot for his left foot to aid in healing.

“We don’t know exactly when, but it will be soon for sure,” Maresca said during a news conference on Monday. “He’s already on the pitch, touching the ball, and the sensation is good.

“We’re focused on tomorrow’s Champions League match first, then we’ll start thinking about Arsenal.”

When pressed about the possibility of Palmer playing against Arsenal, Maresca replied, “I don’t think that’s likely at the moment.”

One player looking to make an impact against Barcelona in Palmer’s absence is Estêvão.

The Brazilian teenager has drawn comparisons to Lamine Yamal of Spain after a promising start at Chelsea, but Maresca aimed to temper such expectations.

“He’s definitely going to be an important player for this club, without a doubt,” Maresca stated.

“The key for Estêvão is to enjoy himself and be happy, without worrying about comparing himself to others. He should focus on improving himself every day, and I’m certain he’ll become a top player for this club.

“Estêvão is already playing at a high level, even starting for Brazil. While he’s very young and has areas to improve, we’re extremely pleased with his progress.

“In many ways, he reminds me of what I’ve said about Pedri. It’s a joy for football lovers to watch talents like Estêvão, Lamine Yamal, and Pedri—this is the essence of the game. We’re excited to have Estêvão with us, and we’re confident he will excel.”
