Arne Slot has expressed feeling “guilty” about Liverpool’s disappointing performance, labeling their recent outcomes as “ridiculous.”
Liverpool’s 3-0 defeat against Nottingham Forest on Saturday marked their sixth loss in seven Premier League matches, with Slot’s team suffering consecutive league defeats by a three-goal difference for the first time since 1965.
This grim situation has left Liverpool in 12th place, trailing 11 points behind leaders Arsenal, significantly diminishing their chances of retaining the title.
“It’s absurd,” Slot remarked. “It’s hard to believe. I’ve frequently stated that we cannot justify our performance with excuses. It’s shocking for the club, for me, and for everyone involved.”
“However, this club is perhaps the best equipped to face such challenges. The tougher the situation gets, the more united we become.”
When asked about managing external pressure, Slot replied, “I don’t find it particularly difficult to remain calm; it’s part of my nature. Most people would describe me as a calm individual.”
“These scenarios are certainly unpleasant. Losing, especially at a club like Liverpool, isn’t easy.”

“Honestly, I didn’t anticipate finding ourselves in this position, given our tactical approach and the caliber of players we possess. The number of losses we’ve sustained is surprising. You can reference numerous stats, noting this is the sixth match we’ve lost in seven Premier League outings.”
“I could point out that we’ve won two out of our last four matches, and we’ve secured three victories in the Champions League. We’ll see how things progress, but our performance has fallen below Liverpool’s standards. I genuinely accept responsibility for this and feel remorseful.”
Liverpool is likely to be without midfielder Florian Wirtz for their UEFA Champions League match against PSV Eindhoven on Wednesday, while Jeremie Frimpong and Conor Bradley also missed training on Tuesday.
