Wrexham Secure Late…

Wrexham clinched a dramatic equaliser in the dying moments of the match, securing a 1-1 draw against Blackburn at the SToK Cae Ras.

Blackburn initially appeared to have claimed victory when Andri Gudjohnsen scored early on, but Max Cleworth found the net in the fifth minute of second-half stoppage time, keeping Wrexham unbeaten in the Championship since October 18.

The action began in the 13th minute when Ryan Alebiosu sped down the right flank, delivering a cross that Gudjohnsen headed past Wrexham goalkeeper Arthur Okonkwo and into the far corner.

Just five minutes later, Alebiosu set up another opportunity, but Yuki Ohashi’s acrobatic volley missed the target.

Wrexham earned a late point against Blackburn.

Wrexham’s first real chance came in the 25th minute when Ryan Longman’s pass reached captain James McClean at the back post, but the winger’s header hit the side netting.

The visitors continued to threaten on the counter, and in the 28th minute, Cleworth made a crucial tackle to deny Ryoya Morishita a shot in the box after he was set up by fellow Japanese international Ohashi.

Ohashi tested Okonkwo with a strong attempt two minutes later, but veteran midfielder Adam Forshaw wasted the opportunity by shooting over the bar.

Wrexham struggled to make the most of their chances, as their passes often went astray, leading to lost possession.

After the break, Blackburn found themselves wasteful in the opposition area, misfiring multiple corners.

They nearly doubled their lead on 56 minutes when Ohashi showcased his skill to weave through the defense and unleashed a powerful shot that Okonkwo saved, only for Gudjohnsen to send the rebound over the goal.

Another opportunity arose for Blackburn in the 70th minute when substitute Makhtar Gueye sent in a dangerous cross that Cleworth almost deflected into his own net.

Then, in the 79th minute, Callum Doyle’s cross found George Dobson, but the substitute’s header went wide.

Desperate for an equaliser, Wrexham saw Kieffer Moore‘s close-range shot brilliantly saved by Aynsley Pears, with Cleworth’s follow-up effort sailing over the bar.

In the 85th minute, Moore set up Nathan Broadhead, but his shot went just inches wide.

Finally, Wrexham equalised in injury time through a well-worked free-kick; Broadhead’s pass found Cleworth, who made no mistake in slotting the ball into the net, igniting wild celebrations among the home fans.
