Real Madrid are worried about an injury suffered by Trent Alexander-Arnold during Wednesday’s LaLiga victory against Athletic Club. According to sources, the England defender is set to undergo tests to assess the severity of the injury.
Alexander-Arnold was having one of his standout performances in a Madrid shirt, assisting Kylian Mbappé‘s opening goal with a brilliant cross-field pass. However, he had to be substituted in the 55th minute of the 3-0 triumph at San Mamés, with Raúl Asencio coming on in his place.
The right-back appeared to experience a muscular issue after a clearance upfield. He was seen limping on the sidelines before requesting to be substituted.
Additionally, midfielder Eduardo Camavinga was also taken off due to an ankle injury, although it is believed to be less serious, according to sources.
This season has already been tumultuous for Alexander-Arnold since joining from Liverpool. Following a promising start in the Club World Cup, he suffered a thigh injury in September, which sidelined him for a month.
His absence coincided with Dani Carvajal being unavailable, forcing midfielder Federico Valverde to fill in at right-back.
Since returning to action last month, Alexander-Arnold faced some criticism for his performances, which mirrored the team’s struggles, but he showed significant improvement against Athletic.
