The Florida State Seminoles football program has experienced significant ups and downs since the days of Jameis Winston. The 2013 Heisman Trophy winner boasted a remarkable college record of 27-1 and led the team to a thrilling BCS championship victory against the Auburn Tigers in a 34-31 game. However, since Winston’s departure, the Seminoles have struggled, posting a record of just 76-60, with more losing seasons than winning ones.
Given this context, it’s no surprise that Winston took to social media to take a jab at his former school’s football team while simultaneously praising their other athletic squad.
On Monday night, Winston shared a post from Florida State’s football team that celebrated their women’s soccer team for capturing its fifth NCAA title and used the opportunity to criticize the gridiron squad.
Thank you @FSUSoccer for consistently being our best football team over the years! https://t.co/T1QWd8nHV2

Winston’s remark holds weight. Since he graduated, the Seminoles women’s soccer program has excelled with a record of 187-32-30, clinching championships in 2018, 2021, 2023, and 2025. They have emerged as the most successful college women’s soccer team during this timeframe, highlighting them as Florida State’s top athletic squad.
