Aston Villa Evaluates…

Harvey Elliott will not be joining Aston Villa for their Europa League match against FC Basel on Thursday, as manager Unai Emery continues discussions with the Liverpool loanee.

Since his last-minute transfer from Anfield, Elliott has participated in only seven matches, with his most recent appearance occurring on October 2 as a late substitute in the same tournament against Feyenoord.

The 22-year-old midfielder will secure a permanent move to Villa, triggering a £35 million ($47m) transfer fee, if he makes 10 appearances in the Premier League for the club.

With only five league games under his belt, including just one start, the former England under-21 player faces an uncertain future.

“We are in dialogue with him regarding his situation. He isn’t currently with us,” Emery said to the press before the Basel match.

“My decision stems from his situation. He is on loan with us, but he isn’t significantly contributing through a permanent contract.

“I hope we can find the best outcome for both him and us. I respect him as a player and a person. He is training well, but there are certain challenges we face with him.

“I hope we can reach a solution that allows him to play consistently and advance his career, whether that is with us or elsewhere.”
