Bournemouth Concerned Over…

United States midfielder Tyler Adams may have sustained damage to his medial collateral ligament after exiting the pitch limping during Bournemouth‘s thrilling 4-4 draw against Manchester United in the Premier League on Monday.

Adams sustained the injury in just the second minute of the match at Old Trafford while contesting a ball against Matheus Cunha. He had to be substituted after receiving treatment on the field.

“Losing him is the worst news to come from the game,” said Bournemouth coach Andoni Iraola. “His knee twisted, and I suspect it may be the MCL. We need to assess whether it’s a minor sprain or something more serious.”

“It’s a significant loss for us, especially with Lewis Cook suspended. Alex [Scott] has effectively stepped into that holding midfield role, but Tyler is an essential player for us.”

Adams captained the U.S. squad during the 2022 World Cup held in Qatar. The national team’s next matches are scheduled for March, as they prepare for a couple of friendly games.

He has been a key contributor for Bournemouth, participating in nearly all Premier League matches and netting two goals, one of which was awarded the goal of the month for November.

At 26 years old, Adams has faced intermittent lineup changes in both international and club play due to various injuries, including muscular issues and back problems.
