However, clubs should ideally operate with a broader perspective in mind. Their approach to signing players, nurturing talent, and securing management roles should extend beyond the current season. If everyone focused solely on immediate results, every player in the league would uniformly be around 27 years old.
Today, we’ll rank all 20 Premier League clubs based on their prospects for the future. This isn’t simply a forecast of the upcoming league champion—since that would likely favor one of the Big Six—but rather an evaluation of each team’s potential for future success.
To establish these rankings, we’ll consider four key criteria:
• Squad age: The team’s average age, influenced by minutes played this season, assessed through FBref.
• Young talent: The total Transfermarkt value of players aged 23 and under in the squad.
• Managerial stability: An assessment of the likelihood that the current manager will remain in place for several years, as well as confidence in finding a suitable replacement if needed.
• Club health: An evaluation of ownership quality, decision-making efficiency, financial stability, and relegation risk.
