Fernandes Substituted Due…

Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes was replaced at halftime during the team’s Premier League match against Aston Villa on Sunday due to a suspected muscle injury.

During the first half, Fernandes was seen rubbing his right leg and pausing to stretch.

He did not return with the rest of his teammates for the second half, which was tied at 1-1. Centre-back Lisandro Martínez took his place on the field.

Since making his debut for United on February 1, 2020, Fernandes has played more than 300 competitive matches at the club level (308), the most of any player in the Premier League, and has only missed 17 out of United’s 325 matches in all competitions.

The timing of this injury is particularly concerning for head coach Ruben Amorim, who is already without eight senior first-team players during the busy holiday season.

Morgan Rogers gave the home team the lead in the 45th minute, only for Matheus Cunha to equalize for Amorim’s side in the third minute of first-half stoppage time.
