Cristiano Ronaldo has equaled a goal record from his time at Juventus but fell short of matching one of his personal bests.
In Al Nassr‘s 3-0 victory over Al Akhdoud in the Saudi Pro League on Saturday, Ronaldo found the net twice.
This achievement brings his total to 12 goals in the first 10 league matches of the season, marking the second-best start of his career.
He matched the 12 goals scored during the first 10 games of the 2020-21 season while at Juventus in Serie A.
However, his highest total for the opening 10 games of a season was 18 goals during the 2014-15 campaign for Real Madrid in LaLiga.
At 40 years old, Ronaldo netted his 956th career goal on Saturday, leaving him just 44 goals shy of the remarkable 1,000-goal milestone.
His second goal for Al Nassr that day marked his 40th goal for club and country in the calendar year, a milestone he has reached 14 times throughout his storied career, including in each of the last three years.
Ronaldo has scored in eight consecutive Saudi Pro League matches, netting 11 goals during this streak.
This marks his longest goal-scoring streak since the 2019-20 season with Juventus, when he scored in 11 straight games.
His second goal against Al Akhdoud briefly placed him atop the Saudi Pro League scoring charts for the season, until his teammate, fellow Portuguese forward João Félix, scored in stoppage time for Al Nassr.
Both Ronaldo and João Félix are now tied with 12 goals at the top of the scoring leaderboard in Saudi Arabia.
Despite his two-goal performance, Ronaldo’s pursuit of a hat-trick continues.
He hasn’t scored three goals in a match since May 4, 2024, during a Saudi Pro League match against Al Wehda.
Al Nassr’s next match is scheduled for Tuesday, Dec. 27, against Al Ettifaq, giving him another opportunity to enhance his impressive goal tally.
