Christian Pulisic is having a standout season, potentially the best of his career, as he prepares for the upcoming World Cup to be hosted in the United States.
The American star netted the opening goal for AC Milan in a solid 3-0 win over Hellas Verona in Serie A on Sunday, bringing his tally to 10 goals and two assists in 15 games across all competitions with the Rossoneri.
This victory placed Milan at the top of the Serie A table, just one point ahead of defending champions Napoli, who defeated Cremonese 2-0, and two points ahead of Inter Milan.
Massimiliano Allegri’s squad has remained unbeaten in Serie A since their opening loss to Cremonese in August. This match marked the Rossoneri’s final game of 2025.
Pulisic found the net during first-half injury time, volleying in close-range after a corner taken by Luka Modric that was redirected by Adrien Rabiot.
In the second half, Christopher Nkunku converted a penalty for his first Serie A goal and scored again four minutes later by tapping in a rebound from a Modric shot that had hit the post after being deflected by the goalkeeper.
Pulisic’s previous season was his best, with 17 goals and 12 assists in 50 matches.
Since joining Milan for the 2023-24 season, Pulisic has been involved in 50 goals (31 scores and 19 assists). During the same period, only Lautaro Martínez from Inter has had more involvement, with 53 total.
The U.S. national team will be relying on Pulisic’s form in the World Cup, scheduled to take place at home from June 11 to July 19, co-hosted by Canada and Mexico.
In other news, Rasmus Højlund scored two goals in Napoli’s match, surpassing his scoring production from his time at Manchester United last season.
Højlund now has six goals in 12 Serie A matches with Napoli, vastly improving from the four goals he achieved in 32 Premier League appearances last year.
Both of Højlund’s goals were scored within the penalty area.
On Monday, Napoli earned the Italian Super Cup title against Bologna
, in a match held in Saudi Arabia.
