Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has confirmed that Declan Rice’s knee injury is not serious, but it will keep him sidelined for the important upcoming match against Aston Villa on Tuesday.
Rice has been instrumental in Arsenal’s strong start to the Premier League season, making his absence particularly impactful in this crucial game against Villa.
“Declan received a significant hit to his knee early in the match against Brighton, and by the end of the game, it had swollen considerably,” Arteta explained ahead of the matchup.

“The match against Villa comes too soon for him,” Arteta added. When asked if the injury was relatively minor, he said: “I believe so. I hope that once the swelling subsides, he’ll be able to function normally. We’re also missing Riccy [Calafiori] today.”
