Jude Bellingham mentioned that Real Madrid is aiming for a return to trophy-winning form by 2026, acknowledging that “2025 was a bit disappointing” for the club.
In 2025, Madrid failed to secure a major trophy, finishing as runners-up to Barcelona in LaLiga and the Copa del Rey, while also being eliminated from the Champions League by Arsenal and losing to Paris Saint-Germain in the semifinals of the Club World Cup.
This week, the team hosted an open training session for fans at Valdebebas in preparation for their return to competitive play after the Christmas break, with their first opportunity for silverware coming in January’s Spanish Supercopa in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
“We hope for trophies,” Bellingham told Real Madrid TV when discussing his aspirations for the upcoming year. “The fans deserve it. 2025 was lacking, so we aim for more success in the new year.”
After undergoing shoulder surgery last summer post-Club World Cup, Bellingham’s LaLiga debut was delayed until late September.
– Who was the top goal scorer of 2025?
– Can anyone challenge Bayern or Arsenal right now?

Bellingham has made an impact this season, scoring four goals and providing three assists in LaLiga, along with a goal and an assist in the Champions League.
Under coach Xabi Alonso, Madrid started the season strong, winning 13 of their first 14 matches, but three draws and three losses within a month raised questions about Alonso’s future. However, the team managed to secure three consecutive victories before the Christmas break against Alavés, Talavera de la Reina, and Sevilla. The coach remains under pressure as they head into their LaLiga match against Real Betis on Sunday, followed by a Supercopa semifinal clash with Atletico Madrid next week in Jeddah.
