Neymar has officially signed a contract extension with Santos, committing to the club until the end of 2026. The Brazilian superstar announced the news through the club’s social media platforms on Tuesday.
“The year 2025 was one filled with both joy and challenges for me, a period I could only navigate thanks to the support and love I received from you,” Neymar expressed in his message. “Now that 2026 is here, I feel that destiny aligns perfectly. Santos is my home; I am at peace and joyful here. It is with you that I wish to realize the rest of my dreams.”
At 33, Neymar returned to his childhood club last January. He played a crucial role in helping the team avoid relegation during the Brasilian Serie A season, despite struggling with injuries.
On December 22, Santos reported that Neymar underwent a successful minor procedure on his left knee, following a series of knee injuries in recent years. He has not represented Brazil since suffering an ACL tear during World Cup qualifying in October 2023.
Having previously starred for Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain, Neymar is hopeful about his prospects for joining the Brazilian national team for the upcoming World Cup. Coach Carlo Ancelotti has affirmed that Neymar will be considered for selection if he regains full fitness.
Neymar netted 11 goals in 34 appearances for Santos since rejoining the club at the beginning of 2025, proving instrumental in helping them stave off relegation.
Santos will kick off their campaign in the Sao Paulo State Championship on January 10 and is set to begin league play in the Brazilian Serie A against Chapecoense on January 28.
