Roma chief: Amorim axe has…

Roma sporting director Ricky Massara has suggested that the club’s interest in Joshua Zirkzee may be put on hold following the recent sacking of Ruben Amorim at Manchester United, noting that the “situation has changed.”

Zirkzee has attracted interest from both Roma and West Ham, among others, due to limited playing time, according to ESPN sources.

However, with Amorim’s exit after just 14 months at Old Trafford, there is a possibility that Zirkzee may remain at the club.

“He is a centre-forward for Manchester United and is a player that many clubs admire, not just us,” Massara told Sky Sports in Italy.

“Of course, things have changed with this management shift; there are currently no negotiations ongoing, but I prefer not to focus on specific players.”

“We recognize that this transfer window is an opportunity to strengthen our squad in a position where we’ve had difficulty converting chances into goals, and we will look to take advantage of it.”

ESPN sources have indicated that Zirkzee, valued at approximately £30.5 million ($47 million) by United, was initially anticipated to consider any transfer offers he received in January.

However, United is worried about their already thin squad. This concern also extends to any potential move involving Kobbie Mainoo, who might also see increased playing time following Amorim’s departure.
