Man United Request…

Darren Fletcher has announced he will be on the sidelines for Manchester United‘s FA Cup match against Brighton this Sunday.

The former United midfielder, who previously coached the U18 team, stepped in as interim manager following the departure of head coach Ruben Amorim. He was at the helm for the 2-2 draw against Burnley on Wednesday.

Manchester United is currently in talks with potential candidates, including Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Michael Carrick, to serve as interim manager until the summer. A final decision has yet to be reached, meaning Fletcher will lead the team for at least one more game.

“They’ve let me know that they want me to lead the team on Sunday,” Fletcher stated during a news conference at Turf Moor. “There was an expectation that this might happen since Monday, but our focus remained on the Burnley match.”

“So now, I’m fully dedicated to preparing for Sunday,” he added.

In their last match against Burnley, United made a comeback from a goal down to take a 2-1 lead, thanks to two goals from Benjamin Sesko, before allowing Burnley to level the score.

“The players put in a performance that deserved to win,” Fletcher remarked. “We created numerous chances, had 30 shots, goal-line clearances, and even had a goal disallowed.”

“In that context, we should have won the game. It wasn’t flawless; we started slowly. However, we scored two brilliant goals. While there’s still plenty of work to do, I was very pleased with their efforts.”
