Guéhi Completes Man…

The transfer window is always a bustling period at the Etihad Stadium, and January 2026 is no different.

According to sources at ESPN, Manchester City is close to finalizing a deal for Crystal Palace defender Marc Guéhi, which is estimated to be around £20 million. This acquisition aims to strengthen a City defense that has been suffering from recent injuries.

City has been proactive in the transfer market over the past year, and should Guéhi’s move materialize this month, he will be the club’s 14th signing since January 2025, covering various positions across the team.

Introducing … Pep Guardiola’s new-signing XI, assembled at a cost of €489 million in transfer fees.

Goalkeeper

Gianluigi Donnarumma — €30 million

Donnarumma joined City on transfer deadline day last September after losing his starting position at PSG. He has since made a significant impact, allowing just 10 goals in 23 appearances across all competitions this season, ranking fourth in goals prevented according to Opta.

It’s also worth noting James Trafford, who joined the club last summer for €31 million just before Donnarumma’s arrival. He became the backup quickly after just three Premier League appearances.

Defense

RB: Abdukodir Khusanov — €40 million

Khusanov was acquired from Lens last January, though he faced a rocky debut against Chelsea, where he made a critical error early on. However, he has since made 23 appearances across competitions.

CB: Marc Guéhi — €23 million

Although Guéhi was on the verge of joining Liverpool last summer, City has long considered him a valuable long-term target. With key defenders John Stones, Josko Gvardiol, and Rúben Dias sidelined due to injuries, Guéhi will need to adapt quickly to life at City.

CB: Vitor Reis — €37 million

Reis has seen limited action with City, making only one appearance in the Premier League and Club World Cup last season, along with two FA Cup fixtures. He is currently on loan to Girona, where he has enjoyed consistent first-team action.

LB: Rayan Aït-Nouri — €36 million

Aït-Nouri was the first signing for City during a hectic summer last year. He joined from Wolves but is still finding his rhythm at the club, appearing just nine times this season due to an ankle injury.

Midfield

DM: Nico González — €60 million

González has emerged as a standout addition to this lineup, making 45 appearances for City since his transfer from FC Porto last January. With midfield partner Rodri sidelined for most of the previous year due to a torn ACL, González has seamlessly stepped up.

CM: Tijjani Reijnders — €55 million

The former AC Milan midfielder made an immediate impact in his City debut, scoring and assisting against Wolves. He has since become a vital part of Guardiola’s midfield.

CM: Rayan Cherki — €36 million

Considered the most naturally talented player in this lineup, Cherki has showcased his skill, notably with a rabona assist for Phil Foden against Sunderland. Despite his prowess, he often finds himself coming off the bench, following Guardiola’s focus on simplicity in play.

Forwards

RW: Savinho — €25 million

Known for his contributions, Savinho aided in his former club Girona’s impressive Champions League qualification last season before joining City. Since arriving at the Etihad in January, he has scored five goals and provided 16 assists in 71 appearances across competitions.

LW: Antoine Semenyo — €72 million

Semenyo had an outstanding start to his City career, finding the net in his first two games against Exeter City and Newcastle United in the Carabao Cup semifinals. He recently had a goal ruled out due to an offside in a play involving Erling Haaland.

ST: Omar Marmoush — €75 million

Marmoush became City’s most expensive signing since last January at €75 million. He has had a memorable tenure thus far, winning the Premier League‘s Goal of the Season award for a stunning goal against Bournemouth last May. However, he has faced challenges this season due to a knee injury and participation in the Africa Cup of Nations.
