Sources: Guéhi to undergo…

Marc Guéhi is poised to undergo a medical examination on Sunday as part of his anticipated transfer to Manchester City, sources informed ESPN.

Manchester City has finalized an agreement with Crystal Palace for an initial fee of £20 million ($27 million), which may include additional performance-based add-ons.

Guéhi, who was set to be a free agent this summer, has accepted terms for a five-and-a-half-year contract with the club at the Etihad Stadium.

“I haven’t received official confirmation from my club yet,” Pep Guardiola remarked following City’s 2-0 loss to Manchester United on Saturday. “It appears to be close, but Ferran [Soriano, the chief executive] and Hugo [Viana, the director of football] haven’t informed me about anything.”

Guéhi will become City’s second signing this January, following the acquisition of winger Antoine Semenyo from Bournemouth for £64 million.

Club officials intensified discussions with Palace and the England defender following injuries to Josko Gvardiol, Rúben Dias, and John Stones.

Gvardiol is expected to miss a significant portion of the season due to a leg fracture, while Dias is likely to be sidelined for another month due to a hamstring injury. Stones has made just one start in the Premier League since August.

Neither Guéhi nor Semenyo will be available for the upcoming Champions League match against Bodo/Glimt on Tuesday.

Following Palace’s 2-1 defeat to Sunderland, manager Oliver Glasner expressed frustration at the decision to sell their captain just a day before a match. His discontent follows the summer sale of star player Eberechi Eze to Arsenal.

“We feel completely abandoned,” Glasner lamented. “Selling our captain just a day before a game is upsetting.”

“When your heart gets ripped out twice a year … losing Eze and Guéhi just a day before a match is extremely disheartening.”
