France striker Jean-Philippe Mateta has informed Crystal Palace of his desire to leave the club, according to sources speaking with ESPN.
The 28-year-old forward still has 18 months remaining on his current contract at Selhurst Park.

Despite Juventus showing interest in the former Mainz player, they have reportedly not met Palace’s asking price of approximately £40 million ($54 million). Aston Villa is also among several clubs interested in Mateta.
Since making his debut for France’s senior team last October, Mateta has scored two goals in three matches. He has netted eight Premier League goals for Crystal Palace this season.
This January has been tumultuous for last season’s FA Cup champions.
The Eagles were eliminated in the third round of this year’s tournament by non-league Macclesfield, and they were further shaken by the announcement that manager Oliver Glasner will depart at the end of his contract this summer. This was quickly followed by the transfer of captain Marc Guéhi to Manchester City.
After his team’s defeat in the Premier League against Sunderland on Saturday, Glasner expressed outrage towards the Selhurst Park management, stating it felt like the squad was “being abandoned” and receiving “no support” from the upper management.
Crystal Palace, who have not won a league match since December 7, currently sit through to the playoff round in the Conference League and will host Chelsea on Sunday.
