Liverpool unlikely to make…

Arne Slot has indicated that he does not foresee Liverpool making any new signings during the January transfer window, expressing that the club will always explore opportunities in the transfer market.

Last summer, Liverpool set two British transfer records, spending nearly £450 million ($609 million) on reinforcements.

However, they are currently grappling with long-term injuries to striker Alexander Isak and defenders Conor Bradley and Giovanni Leoni, which has left the current Premier League champions short-staffed in both attack and defense as they approach the latter half of the season.

Despite these injury challenges, Slot does not expect any new arrivals before the transfer window closes on February 2, unless a suitable player becomes available.

“That’s what I anticipate,” Slot noted.

“However, I always say that if there’s an opportunity in the market to strengthen the squad, this club will always pursue it. But at present, I expect things to remain largely unchanged.”

Liverpool recently achieved a commendable victory against Marseille in the Champions League and is set to return to Premier League action with a match against Bournemouth on Saturday.

The Reds currently sit fourth in the league standings, though they only have a four-point cushion above Everton in tenth place.

In response to a question about his confidence in securing Champions League qualification this season, Slot expressed, “I am quite confident because I work with these players daily and experience their abilities. However, predicting the future is always challenging. If our players can stay fit, I believe we are in an excellent position.”

“Occasionally in football, you can encounter unexpected injuries. I didn’t anticipate being without Giovanni Leoni, Alexander Isak, and Conor Bradley for such an extended period. Nevertheless, this team has demonstrated that when we’ve got all our key players fit, we can compete fiercely against any team in the world.”

“Therefore, I remain optimistic about the future, but fitness issues are inherently unpredictable. Even if injuries occur, we will still be capable of competing.”
