Wrexham Scores Twice in…

Wrexham mounted an extraordinary comeback by scoring twice in stoppage time to secure a remarkable 3-2 win against QPR.

After Harvey Vale opened the scoring early in the match, Callum Doyle equalized for Wrexham with his first goal for the club at the start of the second half.

Steve Cook’s goal in the 80th minute appeared to have given Rangers the lead, but they were reduced to 10 men when Amadou Mbengue received a red card 10 minutes later. Taking advantage of the situation, the visitors struck twice within a minute.

Dean Windass brought Wrexham level, and fellow substitute Ollie Rathbone scored a stunning winner in the dying moments with a powerful right-footed shot from 30 yards.

Former Chelsea prodigy Vale, who has recently returned from injury, struck first with a brilliant goal just six minutes into the game.

Nicolas Madsen intercepted a pass from Lewis O’Brien and cleverly back-heeled the ball to Karamoko Dembele, whose shot rattled the crossbar. After Dembele battled for the loose ball on the right side of the penalty area, Vale turned and unleashed a magnificent left-footed volley beyond goalkeeper Arthur Okonkwo.

This early goal set the hosts on the right path after consecutive goalless draws, and they maintained their dominance, with Paul Smyth hitting the side netting after being set up by Richard Kone, Vale shooting wide, and Dembele’s acrobatic effort landing on top of the net.

Rangers missed the opportunity to double their lead during this period, allowing Wrexham to fight back. They leveled the score nine minutes after the break.

Joe Walsh made a fantastic save to deny George Thomason’s low shot, but QPR struggled to clear the danger, and Nathan Broadhead played a precise pass to Doyle, who scored at the near post.

QPR, having dominated the first half, found it difficult to regain momentum after conceding. Walsh successfully held off a shot from Ben Sheaf as Wrexham pressed forward again.

On the other side, Madsen intercepted another loose pass—similar to his play in leading to Rangers’ first goal—but this time his shot went wide of the far corner.

However, Madsen redeemed himself with a perfectly executed right-wing corner that Cook headed home just outside the six-yard box.

Kone came close to scoring again, hitting the crossbar from another Madsen corner, just before Mbengue, who was already on a yellow card, received a second for a foul on Thomason and was sent off.

In a dramatic turn of events for the home crowd, Windass scored by hooking the ball home after Walsh had parried a corner, and Rathbone then sealed the victory with style in the final moments.
