Atlético Madrid achieved consecutive LaLiga victories with a commanding 3-0 win over Mallorca.
Under Diego Simeone’s guidance, the team delivered a strong performance, with Alexander Sorloth getting the first goal in the first half, followed by an unfortunate own goal from David López, and a powerful strike from Thiago Almada sealing the deal.
This victory marks Atlético’s fifth consecutive league match without a loss, while Mallorca finds itself hovering just above the relegation zone.
In the opening minutes, Mallorca’s Mateo Joseph delivered a corner to Vedat Muriqi, whose attempt went wide, and Atlético’s David Hancko couldn’t convert his header either, sending it over.
Muriqi again failed to connect properly with a header from Sergi Darder’s cross, while at the opposite end, Leo Román had to make crucial saves to stop efforts from Sorloth and Giuliano Simeone.
Atlético took the lead in the 22nd minute when Marcos Llorente’s powerful volley was brilliantly saved by Roman, but Sorloth was on hand to tap in the rebound.
Just before halftime, Julián Álvarez nearly doubled the score, and Simeone came close shortly after the interval with a header that went wide.
Roman was again in action to thwart an attempt from Pablo Barrios, who also had a long-range shot that narrowly missed the target.
Atlético maintained their dominance, with Sorloth’s powerful header being saved by Roman, while Mallorca came close when Muriqi’s header went just wide at the far post.
The hosts doubled their lead in the 75th minute when Llorente’s threatening cross was deflected into the net off López’s head following a botched clearance by Mateu Morey.
Almada solidified the victory in the 87th minute, capitalizing on a loose ball from a corner and firing it into the top of the net.
