Continuing a growing tradition, Manchester City has unveiled a limited-edition jersey to honor the Lunar New Year.
This year’s design, in celebration of the Year of the Fire Horse commencing on February 17, is striking and vibrant.
The prematch shirt features intricately hand-drawn horse patterns in a classic Chinese ink and watercolor style, resulting in a rich, almost camouflage-like design made up of various horse images.
Puma, the kit’s manufacturer, describes the Fire Horse artwork as a representation of strength, dynamism, and relentless determination — qualities that Manchester City will need to embody as they aim to overtake Arsenal at the top of the Premier League this season. When in doubt, just apply more horsepower.
The club’s badges and logos are rendered in beige with metallic gold accents, adding a touch of elegance suitable for a lunar year that occurs only once every 60 years.
Alongside the jersey, Manchester City’s “Horse Capsule” collection includes a stylish anthem jacket with a more understated design, a t-shirt showcasing a galloping blue horse, and a baseball cap.
In 2023, City debuted their first Lunar New Year kit — the Year of the Rabbit — featuring a design inspired by the moon’s surface, which perfectly aligns with the club’s anthem “Blue Moon.”
In 2024, the Year of the Dragon kit was launched, featuring a soft grey color adorned with hand-drawn wood carvings of this legendary creature encircling the torso of the wearer.
We’re excited to see what City has in store for the upcoming Year of the Goat, starting February 6, 2027.
