Allan Saint-Maximin, the former winger for Newcastle, has exited Mexican team Club America by mutual agreement after alleging that his children faced racist harassment.

This week, the 28-year-old Frenchman took to social media to express concerns about his family’s experiences.

Since leaving St James’ Park in 2023, Saint-Maximin, who has also played for Al-Ahli and Fenerbahce, shared on Instagram: “The issue is not the color of your skin, but the color of your thoughts.”

“I can handle attacks directed at me — it’s something I’ve learned to confront. However, I will never stand for any mistreatment of my children.”

“My priority is to protect them, ensuring they are respected and cherished, irrespective of their background or skin color. Hate and discrimination have no place in our world.”

“To those who attempted to harm my kids, heed this: you made a grave error. I will always defend my family, and no threat will intimidate me.”

Neither Saint-Maximin nor Club America provided further details about the incidents.

In response, Club America released a statement affirming, “We strongly condemn all acts of discrimination and violence that undermine human dignity, both on and off the field. We express our unwavering support for Allan Saint-Maximin and his family, and they have the backing of everyone in this institution.”

Coach Andre Jardine commented on Saturday: “Maximin is a remarkable player with the talent to compete in any league globally. We wish him all the best.”
