Carrick: Man United Job…

Michael Carrick maintains that his strong start as Manchester United manager has not altered his chances of securing the role permanently.

In his first three matches at the helm, Carrick has achieved victories against Manchester City, Arsenal, and Fulham.

This success has sparked discussions about Carrick potentially being appointed full-time, but he insists that such a prospect is still distant.

“Nothing has changed, no,” Carrick stated in a press conference ahead of Saturday’s match against Tottenham at Old Trafford.

“To be honest, it won’t alter my approach or my mindset. I fully recognize the role I am in and the responsibilities it entails.

“I want to see the club succeed, whether that involves me in the future or not.

“For now, I have no control over that, and we will see how it unfolds.”

Manchester United is committed to a thorough recruitment process to find a replacement for Ruben Amorim, who was dismissed last month.

Initially, few fans considered Carrick to be the leading candidate for the permanent manager position when he was appointed until the end of the season, but public opinion is beginning to shift.

However, Carrick emphasized the need for the club to avoid being influenced by the short-term successes he’s achieved so far.

“Short-term results shouldn’t affect the decision-making process,” he remarked. “If they have, that would indicate a problem.

“It can’t be so reactionary based on a few good performances or issues that need to be addressed. It’s all about steady progress.

“Football can change in an instant, so we need to remain grounded and focused on our goals.”

With two matches coming up within four days against Tottenham and West Ham, Carrick has the opportunity to secure five consecutive wins before the team takes a 12-day break due to an early FA Cup exit.

“I’m enjoying my time here,” said Carrick. “I feel at home, but I understand the situation, so I am not letting myself get too carried away.”
