Manchester United fan Frank Illet has announced that his long hair is “going soon,” over a year after he vowed not to cut it until his team secured five consecutive victories.
Illet, who is known on social media as “theunitedstrand,” initiated this challenge in October 2024, during Erik ten Hag’s tenure at Old Trafford.
Following United’s 2-0 victory against Tottenham on Saturday, which marked their fourth straight win, Illet is now just one match away from fulfilling his promise. If United triumph over West Ham United on Tuesday, he will finally chop off his impressive mane.
“Carrick is at the wheel! This hair is going soon. West Ham up next, four out of five done! This is the first time it’s been four wins in a row since I started this challenge. This time, it’s really happening,” Illet shared on Instagram.
He expressed his gratitude, saying, “Thank you so much to Carrick; thank you, thank you, thank you.” His journey has captured widespread attention, boosting his Instagram following to nearly a million, with regular updates showcasing his hair’s impressive growth, reaching shoulder length.
