Sesko: Manchester Uniteds…

Benjamin Sesko expressed his belief that his late-game heroics at West Ham demonstrate Manchester United’s determination to compete for a Champions League spot.

Entering the match as a substitute in the 69th minute, Sesko found United trailing due to a goal from Tomás Soucek shortly after halftime.

As the game approached the end of stoppage time, United appeared on course for a disappointing defeat against the hosts, which would have marked interim coach Michael Carrick’s first loss following four straight victories.

However, in the dying moments of the match, with the clock showing 96 minutes, Bryan Mbeumo delivered a cross, and Sesko expertly flicked it into the net with a stunning volley, securing a 1-1 draw for his team.

“It was one of those games that wasn’t going to be easy because they defended compactly and aimed for counter-attacks,” the Slovenian forward shared with MUTV. “Everyone was eager to win, to score, and to fight for each other. It didn’t go as planned, but at least we secured a draw, which is important.

“I felt fantastic knowing I could help the team at least earn one point. It’s rewarding to contribute in various moments. Of course, I couldn’t have done it without my teammates. I look forward to more such opportunities.”

This draw left United in fourth place, keeping them firmly in contention for a return to the Champions League—something that seemed unlikely just a month ago under previous manager Ruben Amorim.

“We have each other’s backs,” Sesko added. “We are committed to winning games and securing a Champions League spot because we believe in our team’s quality. We will fight for it. Unfortunately, this game played out the way it did, so now we must focus on the next match and aim for victory.”
