MILAN — AC Milan suffered another setback in the city rivalry, losing 1-0 to Parma at home on Sunday. The match took a grim turn when Milan midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek was hospitalized following a collision with the Parma goalkeeper.

Loftus-Cheek encountered a head injury after colliding with Edoardo Corvi while contesting a cross into the penalty area about 10 minutes into the game at San Siro.

The 30-year-old midfielder left the field with a bloodied face, requiring a neck and head brace before being taken to the hospital.

Reports from Italian media indicate that the England international and former Chelsea player suffered broken teeth and is currently being evaluated for potential head trauma.

“Our thoughts are with him,” said Parma coach Carlos Cuesta.

Meanwhile, Christian Pulisic, the U.S. attacker, made his return to the starting XI for Milan, but their efforts were unsuccessful. Parma’s Mariano Troilo scored with a header from a corner in the 80th minute, a goal that was initially disallowed for a foul but was ultimately awarded following a video review.

Milan entered the clash hoping to reduce their points deficit to seven from Inter, but with Inter’s recent 2-0 win over Lecce, they moved 10 points ahead, marking their seventh consecutive league victory.

This loss follows a previous disappointing draw for Milan, who were held to a 1-1 result by Como at home on Wednesday.

This victory marks Parma’s third consecutive win as they sit in 12th place in the league.
