Harry Kane has set his sights on breaking Robert Lewandowski‘s Bundesliga record of 41 goals in a single season after scoring twice in Bayern Munich‘s 3-2 victory over Borussia Dortmund on Saturday.
This marked Kane’s fourth consecutive match in which he scored two or more goals, bringing his league total to 30 goals in 24 games.

When asked if he was aiming for Lewandowski’s 2020-21 record, the England forward affirmed, “Absolutely. I need to continue with my current performance.”
During Saturday’s match, Kane also converted a penalty, matching Paul Breitner’s Bundesliga record of 10 successful penalties, set in the 1980-81 season. Overall, the 32-year-old has achieved a career-high 45 goals across all competitions in just 37 appearances for Bayern this season.
“There are still plenty of games left,” Kane remarked about pursuing the record with 10 matches remaining this season.
“I need to maintain my consistency during this period. We’ll find out in late April or early May if it’s achievable. Right now, I just need to stay focused on my game,” he added.
Kane recently celebrated achieving 500 goals for both club and country.
Lewandowski, who was also a key player for Bayern, broke Gerd Müller’s longstanding record during the final moments of the last match in May 2021. At the same point in his historic season, Lewandowski had a slight lead over Kane, with 31 goals in 24 games.
Kane maintains that the Bundesliga title race is far from over, despite Bayern holding an 11-point lead over Dortmund at the top of the standings.
“We were ahead by 11 points a few weeks ago, and we saw how quickly things can change with just two results,” he indicated. “We must remain focused.”
