Pop icon Madonna has responded to LaLiga’s Celta Vigo, who recently sought a shirt worn by her over thirty years ago.
In a post on Saturday, she addressed the club’s call for information on the shirt with a message on X, confirming that she still has the garment in her possession.
“This shirt is hanging in my archives! I am wearing and representing your team in spirit!” Madonna shared.
This past week, Celta Vigo published an open letter to Madonna, inquiring about the baby-blue-and-white jersey she wore during a concert at Balaidos stadium in 1990.
Club president Marián Mouriño Terrazo expressed in the letter: “Over time, we have come to better appreciate your stance on challenging established norms and standing up against those who dictate what one can or cannot do. We resonate with this philosophy at our club, which is why we hope to locate the garment you once donned.”

Madonna’s reply was prompted by a video the club shared, showcasing a musical performance of her 1989 hit “Like a Prayer” by a choir of female singers accompanied by a string orchestra, performed on the field at Balaidos Stadium prior to Friday’s match against Real Madrid.
