LOS ANGELES — David Martínez scored in the second half, with Hugo Lloris securing his third consecutive clean sheet of the season as LAFC triumphed over FC Dallas with a score of 1-0 on Saturday evening.
The match remained scoreless until Martínez found the net in the 55th minute, capitalizing on assists from Stephen Eustáquio and defender Sergi Palencia. This marked his first goal of the season and the ninth of the 20-year-old’s career, achieved in his 49th match and 20th start.
Eustáquio has already contributed a goal and two assists in his first three MLS appearances, while Palencia recorded his first assist of the season and ninth in 86 total matches.
Lloris made five saves during the match, helping LAFC (3-0-0) achieve the best start in the club’s nine-year history, which includes five consecutive victories across all competitions to commence the season. This is also the first time the club has won its first three league matches while maintaining a clean sheet, outscoring their opponents 6-0 in the process.
Michael Collodi made five saves in his third start for Dallas (1-1-1) this season, having saved nine shots during his rookie year. He allowed only eight goals in his nine matches last year, leading to the decision to let Maarten Paes go.
Both goalkeepers recorded three saves in a scoreless first half.
LAFC now leads the all-time series against Dallas with a record of 8-4-3, including an impressive 6-0-1 at home.
The season kicked off for LAFC with a 3-0 win against defending champions Inter Miami, followed by a 2-0 victory over the Houston Dynamo on the road. The club also celebrated wins of 6-1 and 1-0 over Real España in the CONCACAF Champions Cup, advancing them to the Round of 16.
FC Dallas started its season with a 3-2 victory against Toronto FC in their home opener and played to a scoreless draw with Nashville SC.
