Rafael Louzán, president of the Spanish Football Federation, anticipates that a decision will be made within the next 48 hours regarding the venue for the upcoming Finalissima match between Argentina and Spain in Qatar.

The match, set to take place on March 27 at Lusail Stadium in Doha, faces uncertainty after the Qatar Football Association announced the postponement of all tournaments and events due to the recent U.S.-Israel strikes in Iran.

“It’s going to be quite challenging for the game to occur in Doha,” Louzán shared during an interview on Cadena Ser’s El Larguero.

“In fact, we had to cancel two charter flights booked for this event just four days ago.”

“We expect a decision will be reached within the next 48 hours,” he added. “Relocating to Europe is likely, considering that most players from Spain and Argentina are based there. That seems to be the most reasonable outcome.”

UEFA, CONMEBOL, and the local organizing committee are closely monitoring developments in the Middle East.

Louzán emphasizes that any decision to shift the Finalissima from Doha will not be made lightly.

“There’s a lot at stake,” Louzán noted. “The agreement for this Finalissima is between UEFA and CONMEBOL through a promoter that has organized six matches in Doha, including Spain vs. Argentina on March 27, Egypt vs. Spain on March 30, Saudi Arabia vs. Serbia on March 30, and Argentina vs. Qatar on March 31. This is part of a larger package.”

“We should show solidarity with countries like Qatar and Saudi Arabia. We have an issue, but they do too.”
