Bournemouth and U.S. national team midfielder Tyler Adams has praised the “seamless” recovery from his knee injury that enabled him to return to the lineup of the Premier League team and prepare for the upcoming international matches.

Adams suffered a torn MCL on December 15 and was initially expected to be sidelined for two to three months. However, he made his comeback on February 12 with a 0-0 draw against West Ham United, followed by a full 90-minute performance in another 0-0 draw against Brentford on March 3.

“My knee feels great, and I’m doing well,” he told ESPN. “I was pleasantly surprised by how smooth the rehab process was, especially since I’ve had some tough recoveries in the past. It’s been refreshing to come back without complications.

“Getting minutes on the pitch has been fantastic, and returning to a good rhythm following my latest 90-minute match has been rewarding.”

Adams is anticipated to be a key player for the U.S. team at the World Cup this summer, which will take place from June 11 to July 19, co-hosted by Canada and Mexico.

However, the Bournemouth midfielder noted that he hasn’t had much time to concentrate on the World Cup or the approaching international matches later this month, where the U.S. will compete against Belgium and Portugal. His primary focus is on his club, which is currently in ninth place in the Premier League, tied on points with Fulham and Sunderland.

“It’s challenging because people often ask about the excitement of playing in a home World Cup. It feels so close,” he expressed.

“But I’ve always viewed it as quite distant because during the season, it’s tough to focus on that. Even as we approached the last World Cup in 2022, it seemed to sneak up on everyone.

“When you’re in the thick of the season, playing sometimes every three days or just once a week, my priority is to ensure a successful season with Bournemouth. I believe that if I achieve that, I’ll be in a good position come World Cup time. That’s where my focus lies right now.”

Adams is reportedly attracting interest from clubs like Chelsea, Liverpool, and Manchester United. However, he stated that he won’t reassess his future until after the World Cup.

“I have no thoughts on [the transfer interest]. I’m really happy here at Bournemouth,” Adams noted. “The club has provided me with the opportunity to excel.

“Honestly, I haven’t discussed any transfer matters with my agent. I’ve told him to focus on the World Cup for now, and we’ll see where things stand after that.”
