Kane Hits Milestone as…

Harry Kane has made history by becoming the first English player to reach 50 goals in the Champions League after scoring two in Bayern Munich‘s 4-1 victory over Atalanta during the second leg on Wednesday.

The England international converted a penalty in the first half at Allianz Arena and followed it up with a stunning goal after the break, marking his 50th in Europe’s premier club competition.

Kane’s impressive performance contributed to Bayern’s overall 10-2 aggregate triumph over Atalanta, bringing his tally to 28 goals in 34 UCL matches since joining from Tottenham Hotspur in 2023.

Returning to Bayern’s starting lineup for the first time since February 28 due to a calf injury, Kane has now scored in his last four Champions League round-of-16 appearances, totaling seven goals in these fixtures.

This victory propels Vincent Kompany’s side into the quarterfinals, where they will face Real Madrid, a team that Bayern has struggled against, failing to win in their last nine encounters.

The first leg of the quarterfinals is set to take place at the Santiago Bernabeu on April 7.

Additionally, Bayern saw a noteworthy moment at Allianz Arena on Wednesday as defender Filip Pavic became the youngest player in club history to appear in the Champions League and the third youngest overall in the competition’s history after coming off the bench.

At just 16 years and 58 days old, Pavic replaced right-back Josip Stanisic in the 72nd minute, with Bayern well ahead at 4-0.

UEFA confirmed that Pavic is the first player born in 2010 to participate in a Champions League match and ranks third in the all-time youngest player list.

Previously, Arsenal’s Max Dowman debuted at the age of 15 against Slavia Prague in November, and Youssoufa Moukoko was 16 years and 18 days old when he made his appearance for Borussia Dortmund against Zenit St. Petersburg in 2020. Pavic’s debut pushes Barcelona’s Lamine Yamal down to fourth on this prestigious list.

Bayern’s former youngest Champions League player, Paul Wanner, was 16 years and 9 months old when he played against Viktoria Plzen in 2022.
