Girona manager Michel Sánchez has expressed his ambition to advance his career by taking the helm at Manchester City if the chance presents itself.
The Spanish coach has been in charge of Girona, part of the City Group, since 2021 in LaLiga.
At 50 years old, Michel stated on ‘La Otra Grada’ podcast: “I truly believe I am prepared to coach City, and I feel ready to manage any team.”
He added with a chuckle, “I’m not sure if they [City] see it the same way.”
“Coaching Girona and coaching City are worlds apart, and I don’t possess a magic wand to address any egos. However, I am adaptable, and I yearn for that experience.”
Guardiola, 55, is set to mark his tenth year as manager of City this summer and has a contract that runs until June 2027.
Nevertheless, questions have arisen about his future at the Etihad Stadium after he dodged inquiries regarding his plans following City’s exit from the UEFA Champions League after being defeated 5-1 on aggregate by Real Madrid.
In the meantime, Michel is actively preparing himself for a potential transition to the Premier League.
“I have an English teacher and I’m continually working on it,” he remarked.

Michel, who began his coaching career at Rayo Vallecano, where he also enjoyed a significant playing career, has made notable strides at Girona.
He successfully led the team to LaLiga promotion in his first season and was honored as LaLiga Manager of the Season for the 2023-24 season after Girona finished third, securing their first-ever qualification for the Champions League.
Currently sitting 12th in LaLiga, Girona recently achieved a remarkable 2-1 victory over league leaders Barcelona and held Real Madrid to a 1-1 draw last November.
