Inter Milan heads into the international break facing a four-match winless streak across all competitions, resulting in their lead in Serie A shrinking to six points.
Cher Ndour scored a late equalizer for relegation-threatened Fiorentina, ending the match 1-1 against Inter on Sunday.
Pio Esposito gave Inter the lead just under a minute into the game with a header.
Currently, Inter maintains a six-point advantage over second-place AC Milan, who recently defeated Torino after beating Inter in a derby two weeks ago, while defending champions Napoli are seven points behind following their win against Cagliari for their fourth consecutive victory.
With eight rounds remaining in the Serie A season, Fiorentina is now two points above the relegation zone.
This win propelled Cesc Fabregas’ squad three points ahead of fifth-place Juventus, who managed only a 1-1 draw against Sassuolo on Saturday.
Goals for Como came from Assane Diao, Anastasios Douvikas, Martin Baturina, Nico Paz, and Maximo Perrone.
Douvikas’ 11th goal of the season marks him as the first Como player to reach that milestone in the top flight since Giuseppe Baldini had 13 and Renato Cattaneo scored 11 in the 1951-52 season.
Como’s victory came just three days after the passing of one of its owners, Indonesian tobacco billionaire Michael Bambang Hartono, at the age of 86.
Hartono and his brother, Roberto Budi Hartono, acquired Como in 2019 when the team was competing in Italy’s fourth division.
Como returned to Serie A in 2024, ending a 20-year absence.
