Barcelona is contemplating a significant overhaul of its attacking lineup this summer. The club is open to offers for Ferran Torres and aims to bring in up to two new forwards, according to multiple sources reported by ESPN.

At 26, Torres is under contract until 2027; however, the club would prefer to sell him rather than Robert Lewandowski, as this summer presents the last opportunity to secure a transfer fee for the Spain international, allowing for funding of new signings.

Although Lewandowski’s contract is expiring this summer, Barça president Joan Laporta has expressed a desire to extend his contract, as reported by ESPN in February.

In the meantime, sporting director Deco is actively searching for a new first-choice No. 9, with Atlético Madrid‘s Julián Álvarez among potential targets, while also looking into options for extending Marcus Rashford‘s time at the club.

Barça has the option to make Rashford’s loan from Manchester United permanent for approximately €30 million ($34.7 million) but hopes to negotiate either a reduced fee or an extension on the loan for another season.

The Spanish champions recognize that renewing Lewandowski, signing Álvarez, and retaining Rashford will not be straightforward, and they are also exploring alternative avenues to bolster their squad both centrally and on the flanks.

At 37, Lewandowski has attracted interest from numerous clubs worldwide and has stated that he will take until the end of the season to make a definitive choice regarding his future.

One potential option for the Polish striker is a transfer to MLS, with sources revealing that Chicago Fire has been in talks with his representatives “for several months” since January.

Regarding Álvarez, Atlético is unlikely to make it easy for the Argentine to depart, especially with Arsenal also expressing interest.

Furthermore, sources have indicated to ESPN that Manchester United has made it clear that Barcelona must pay the full €30 million fee as agreed last year if they wish to retain Rashford after his loan spell at Spotify Camp Nou.

As a result, Barcelona is exploring ways to maneuver these transactions or find alternatives, acknowledging that they would consider offers for Torres to generate capital.

Given that Torres’ contract runs until 2027, Barcelona must decide whether to sell him this summer or renew his deal to prevent losing him for free in the next year.

Recently, Deco has secured contracts for many key players, including Lamine Yamal, Pau Cubarsí, Frenkie de Jong, Gavi, Ronald Araújo, Pedri, and Fermín López. However, reports indicate that discussions about Torres’ future have yet to occur.

Barcelona acquired Torres from Manchester City in 2022 for over €50 million and he has been part of the squad that won two La Liga titles, a Copa del Rey, and three Spanish Super Cups.

He began this season strongly, filling in for Lewandowski during the autumn, but his form has declined at a crucial point in the season.

This term, Torres has netted 16 goals in 40 appearances, although he has only scored three times in 2026, with his last goal coming during a 3-1 victory over Elche on January 31.

Coaches in Hansi Flick’s staff have reassured ESPN that the Spain international’s commitment is “not in doubt” and that he’s simply experiencing a “bad run.” Nevertheless, the club is considering his transfer to facilitate other operations.

According to one source, Barcelona envisions a scenario where Álvarez takes the lead as the primary striker next season, with Lewandowski serving as a backup, thereby reducing Torres’s playing time.

Additionally, there will be limited chances for Torres to play on the wings, as Barça aims to either keep Rashford or recruit another versatile winger to complement Yamal and Raphinha.
