Borussia Dortmund‘s sporting director has indicated that the club is keeping an eye on Jadon Sancho and considering the possibility of re-signing the Manchester United winger for a third time.
Sancho, who is currently on loan at Aston Villa, will see his contract expire at the end of the current season. While Manchester United holds an option for a one-year extension, sources suggest they are unlikely to activate it, which could allow the English international to depart on a free transfer this summer.
Lars Ricken, Dortmund’s sporting managing director, stated to Sport Bild that the club is searching for a player who can enhance their attacking options, especially with Germany international Julian Brandt set to leave when his contract ends this season.
“We are currently evaluating many players,” Ricken mentioned. “We are analyzing whether they have the potential to enhance our squad, Jadon included.”
“Naturally, we are in search of an attacking player who can immediately add value and who won’t come with an exorbitant transfer fee.”
“In addition, we have to consider defensive reinforcements since Niklas Süle is leaving, and Emre Can will be sidelined for a while.”

Sancho made his mark at Dortmund in 2017 before transferring to United for €85 million ($114m) in 2021. After a loan return to Dortmund for the latter half of the 2023-24 season, he spent a year with Chelsea before joining Villa at the start of the current season.
This season, he has recorded one goal and three assists in 31 appearances.
