Liverpool, England — Mohamed Salah expressed his desire to conclude his time at Liverpool “the right way” following his goal that contributed to a 2-1 victory over Everton on Sunday.
The Egyptian international netted the opening goal at Hill Dickinson Stadium, equaling Steven Gerrard’s record for the highest number of goals scored by a Liverpool player in Merseyside derbies with nine. Beto equalized for the hosts in the second half, but Virgil van Dijk clinched the win with a stoppage-time goal for Arne Slot’s squad.
“It feels fantastic, to be honest,” Salah remarked to Sky Sports post-match. “The crucial thing was to assist the team in regaining confidence because we were aware that it would be a challenging match. I’m relieved that we managed to secure the win in the end.”
Salah has only five matches remaining with Liverpool, having confirmed last month that he would depart the club at the season’s conclusion.

On Salah’s impact, teammate Van Dijk added: “In the coming weeks, I’ll have plenty to say about him. He is incredibly significant for us, both on and off the field.
“Sometimes, appreciation for players comes too late, but we recognize his value immensely. He is an exceptional teammate, and we’ve experienced many highs and lows together.
“He will continue to be vital for the remaining five matches, and it will surely be an emotional time for him and his family. But it will also have an impact on us, as he means a lot to me, the team, and the fans. For now, we still have work to do, and he understands that focus is paramount.”
