Wolverhampton Wanderers have been officially relegated from the Premier League.
The confirmation of their relegation came after West Ham United played to a 0-0 draw against Crystal Palace on Monday. Rob Edwards’ team has accumulated just 17 points after 33 matches.
The season began with Vítor Pereira at the helm, but he was dismissed in November and succeeded by Rob Edwards, previously of Luton Town and Middlesbrough.
Pereira is now managing Nottingham Forest, who are currently in their own relegation struggles, although they have been making progress towards escaping the drop zone.
Wolves’ season in the Premier League has been challenging, with their first victory not coming until January. Since then, they have managed to win just two additional matches, both against teams competing for European qualification: Aston Villa and Liverpool.
This relegation marks the end of an eight-year tenure in the top tier of English football for Wolves, as they now head back to the Championship for the first time since the 2017/18 season.
