Midtjylland, a football club from Denmark, announced on Tuesday that their 19-year-old player, Alamara Djabi, was the victim of a stabbing and underwent surgery for life-threatening injuries.
According to the club, Djabi has had two surgeries and is now in stable condition after being brought out of an induced coma following the incident that occurred over the weekend in their hometown of Herning.
Midtjylland stated that they will refrain from making further comments while the police continue to investigate and interview witnesses.
A native of Guinea-Bissau, Djabi has made one appearance this season for the title-contending Danish team, participating in the Europa League qualifying playoffs in August.
