The Washington Spirit achieved their first home victory of the season with an impressive 4-0 win over the Kansas City Current, featuring Trinity Rodman’s inaugural goal of 2026.
Playing in front of a sold-out audience of 19,251 at Audi Field, the USWNT star assisted Leicy Santos before finding the back of the net herself during first-half stoppage time.
After her goal, Rodman celebrated with her teammates and then mimicked a “phone” gesture to honor her boyfriend, tennis player Ben Shelton, whose signature celebration involves a similar move.
The 4-0 scoreline matched the Spirit’s franchise record for the largest margin of victory.
Santos netted her second goal in the 56th minute, while Claudia Martínez finished the scoring in the 75th minute for the Spirit (2-1-3).
This victory extends Washington’s unbeaten streak to five matches, while Kansas City (2-4-0) has now allowed 13 goals this season.
In other NWSL action on Friday, Lauren Milliet scored twice as Racing Louisville edged the Orlando Pride 3-2, marking their first win of the season.
Brazilian icon Marta made her first start of the season for the Pride in the defeat.
