Carrick hails Bruno…

Michael Carrick has praised Bruno Fernandes, a leading contender for Player of the Year, for his outstanding influence and quality at Manchester United this season.

Since rejecting offers from Saudi Arabia last summer, the 31-year-old has excelled, leading the team with 18 assists as they strive for Champions League qualification.

Fernandes is only two assists away from matching the all-time record of Kevin De Bruyne and Thierry Henry for assists in a single Premier League season and is widely regarded as a frontrunner for the PFA and FWA end-of-season honors.

When asked how he maximizes the potential of the Portugal playmaker, Carrick commented: “I believe in providing Bruno with the platform to excel.

“Like all our players, we’re working on establishing a structure and team setup that encourages everyone to shine.

“Of course, some sacrifices are required for the collective good, but I love seeing Bruno operate in attacking areas with some freedom.

“He plays for the team’s benefit and carries significant responsibility, which he demonstrated superbly, particularly in Saturday’s victory (1-0 against Chelsea) with his defensive efforts.”

“He has a major role to play, but it’s about trust. He’s highly skilled, creatively astute, and a crucial member of the team.”

“Ultimately, it’s about understanding where he can make the maximum impact.”

Since arriving at United from Sporting in January 2020, during Carrick’s tenure under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, the head coach has observed a positive evolution in the club’s standout player.

“Having known Bruno for a long time and worked alongside him when he joined the club, I’m not surprised by his success,” he said ahead of Monday’s match against Brentford.

“With time, he has naturally evolved, benefiting from experience, and it’s clear he has grown significantly.”

“He exerts a tremendous influence, has made a significant impact, and is performing exceptionally well at the moment, which we’re thrilled about.”
