Chelseas Mudryk Appeals…

Chelsea forward Mykhailo Mudryk has received a four-year ban for violating anti-doping regulations, as confirmed by a source to ESPN. Mudryk has filed an appeal with the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).

The Football Association charged Mudryk in June of the previous year, following a provisional suspension that began in December 2024.

CAS released a statement confirming receipt of Mudryk’s appeal against the FA. “The parties are currently exchanging written submissions, and a hearing date has yet to be determined,” the statement indicated.

While CAS’s statement did not specify the sanction being appealed, ESPN later confirmed that a four-year ban had been imposed.

The UK’s talkSport was the first to report the story.

According to Regulation 77 of the FA’s anti-doping policy, a four-year ban is mandated for violations involving non-specified substances, unless the player or their team can prove the violation was unintentional. For specified substances, a four-year ban would also apply if the FA can show the violation was intentional.

Both the FA and Chelsea declined to comment when approached by ESPN on Wednesday.

In a prior statement following his suspension, Mudryk expressed shock at the positive test result, insisting he had “not done anything wrong,” while Chelsea supported that he had “never knowingly used any banned substances.” The positive result came after his international duty with Ukraine in November 2024.

Mudryk’s last appearance for Chelsea was a 2-0 victory against Heidenheim in the Conference League on November 28, 2024. He was subsequently an unused substitute in a 3-0 Premier League win over Aston Villa just three days later.

Mudryk joined Chelsea from Shakhtar Donetsk in January 2023 for a fee of £88 million (approximately $106 million at that time). He has scored 10 goals in 73 matches across all competitions but has struggled to secure a regular starting position.
