Manchester City has clinched the Women’s Super League title for just the second time in their history, following Arsenal‘s 1-1 draw against Brighton & Hove Albion.
Fūka Tsunoda scored first for Brighton, but Frida Maanum equalized for Arsenal shortly after the 60-minute mark. However, the Gunners were unable to secure the victory, knowing they had to avoid any dropped points.
With Arsenal still having three matches left to play, Manchester City now holds a commanding 10-point lead at the top of the table, effectively putting the title beyond Arsenal’s reach.
This marks a swift achievement for City manager Andrée Jeglertz, who took charge in July 2025.
“Leading this team to the WSL title is an unforgettable experience,” Jeglertz stated. “The players have faced every challenge head-on and have been a pleasure to coach this season. Through both triumphs and struggles, they’ve stood united and found ways to achieve victory—just like all great champions do.”
City’s title aspirations solidified after a last-minute goal from Rebecca Knaak secured a 1-0 win over Liverpool on Saturday.
Central to City’s title run has been their attacking prowess, with Khadija Shaw leading the league with 19 goals. Additionally, Vivianne Miedema and Kerolin have added 10 and nine goals, respectively, while the defense has conceded only 18 goals—the second fewest in the league.
This victory concludes Chelsea’s streak of six consecutive WSL titles and marks Manchester City’s first win in a decade.
