Pep requests West Ham to…

Pep Guardiola concluded his post-match press conference following Manchester City’s 3-0 victory over Brentford by enthusiastically shouting “come on you Irons,” signaling City’s hope for assistance from West Ham in the ongoing title race.

City narrowed their deficit at the top of the table to two points, propelled by goals from Jérémy Doku, Erling Haaland, and Omar Marmoush at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday.

With league leaders Arsenal set to take on West Ham on Sunday, Guardiola is looking for Nuno Espírito Santo’s team to deliver a favor.

As Guardiola left the media room on Saturday, he crossed his arms to mimic a gesture commonly seen among West Ham supporters and exclaimed, “come on you Irons.”

Previously discussing the title race, he remarked: “We are competing against a team in the Champions League final that has not lost a game and has been at the top of the league for nearly the entire season.”

“It’s no longer in our hands, so it depends on them dropping points. I love being in the title race again.”

Following their win over Brentford, City still have matches against Crystal Palace, Bournemouth, and Aston Villa. Arsenal will face West Ham, Burnley, and Palace as well.

“All we can do is win again on Wednesday [against Palace], play in the FA Cup final, and tackle Bournemouth — which I’d say is a tough fixture — and then Aston Villa. The scheduling is quite demanding.”

“In just two weeks, the season will be over.”
