Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick has signed a contract extension, keeping him with the club until 2028 after successfully leading them to consecutive LaLiga titles.
Originally set to finish his term in 2027, Flick has now agreed to an additional year, with the potential to remain until 2029.
“I’m really pleased with this agreement,” Flick shared. “We have the opportunity to stay until 2028, and if all goes well, we can decide on extending it for an extra year.”
“The club has the option, and so do I. It’s a great deal, and I feel like I’m exactly where I need to be.”

Since taking over from Xavi Hernández in 2024, Flick has achieved remarkable success, guiding Barcelona to five out of six possible domestic trophies.
In his inaugural season, the 61-year-old led the team to a treble, winning LaLiga, the Copa del Rey, and the Spanish Supercopa.
Under his management, Barça also secured LaLiga and the Spanish Supercopa this season, although they fell short in the Copa del Rey, losing in the semifinals to Atlético Madrid.
A significant disappointment for the team has been their failure to reach a Champions League final since winning in 2015 against Juventus in Berlin.
They lost in the semifinals to Inter Milan last year and were ousted in the quarterfinals by Atlético this season.
“This new contract signifies a major commitment for us to work even harder and strive for the highest levels with the team to secure titles,” Flick remarked.
“Winning the Champions League is a dream that everyone at Barcelona shares. We will keep trying.”
Before his time at Barça, Flick managed both the German national team and Bayern Munich.
Additionally, he spent several years as an assistant to Joachim Löw with Germany, contributing to the team’s success in the 2014 World Cup.
