Veteran goalkeeper Guillermo Ochoa has been selected for Mexico‘s 26-man squad, giving him the opportunity to participate in a historic sixth World Cup.
At 40 years old, Ochoa joins the ranks of iconic players vying to set a record for the most World Cup appearances, alongside legends like Lionel Messi of Argentina and Cristiano Ronaldo from Portugal.

Coach Javier Aguirre has assembled a strong roster for Mexico, led by Fulham’s Raúl Jiménez, AC Milan’s striker Santiago Giménez, and Club Tijuana’s teenage talent Gilberto Mora.
Other notable players include dual-nationals Brian Gutiérrez and Armando González of Chivas, Obed Vargas from Atlético Madrid, and Álvaro Fidalgo from Real Betis.
Prior to the tournament kickoff at Mexico City’s Estadio Azteca against South Africa on June 11, Mexico will face Serbia on June 4 for a final practice match.
As a co-host of the event alongside the United States and Canada, Mexico will become the first nation to host three World Cups.
